    Gradient flow approach to an exponential thin film equation: global existence and latent singularity

    In this work, we study a fourth order exponential equation, ut=Δe−Δu,u_t=\Delta e^{-\Delta u}, derived from thin film growth on crystal surface in multiple space dimensions. We use the gradient flow method in metric space to characterize the latent singularity in global strong solution, which is intrinsic due to high degeneration. We define a suitable functional, which reveals where the singularity happens, and then prove the variational inequality solution under very weak assumptions for initial data.     A Non-Orthogonal Multiple-Access Scheme Using Reliable Physical-Layer Network Coding and Cascade-Computation Decoding

    © 2017 IEEE. This paper studies non-orthogonal transmission over a K -user fading multiple access channel. We propose a new reliable physical-layer network coding and cascade-computation decoding scheme. In the proposed scheme, K single-antenna users encode their messages by the same practical channel code and QAM modulation, and transmit simultaneously. The receiver chooses K linear coefficient vectors and computes the associated K layers of finite-field linear message combinations in a cascade manner. Finally, the K users' messages are recovered by solving the K linear equations. The proposed can be regarded as a generalized onion peeling. We study the optimal network coding coefficient vectors used in the cascade computation. Numerical results show the performance of the proposed approaches that of the iterative maximum a posteriori probability detection and decoding scheme, but without using receiver iteration. This results in considerable complexity reduction, processing delay, and easier implementation. Our proposed scheme significantly outperforms the iterative detection and decoding scheme with a single iteration, for example, by 1.7 dB for the two user case.     Revisiting B_s\to\mu^+\mu^- and B\to K^{(*)}\mu^+\mu^- decays in the MSSM with and without R-parity

    The rare decays B_s -> \mu^+\mu^- and B -> K^{(*)}\mu^+\mu^- are sensitive to new particles and couplings via their interferences with the standard model contributions. Recently, the upper bound on B(B_s -> \mu^+\mu^-) has been improved significantly by the CMS, LHCb, CDF, and D{\O} experiments. Combining with the measurements of B(B-> K^{(*)}\mu^+\mu^-), we derive constraints on the relevant parameters of minimal supersymmetic standard model with and without R-parity, and examine their contributions to the dimuon forward-backward asymmetry in B-> K^{*}\mu^+\mu^- decay. We find that (i) the contribution of R-parity violating coupling products \lambda^{\prime}_{2i2}\lambda^{\prime*}_{2i3} due to squark exchange is comparable with the theoretical uncertainties in B-> K \mu^+\mu^- decay, but still could be significant in B-> K^{*}\mu^+\mu^- decay and could account for the forward-backward asymmetry in all dimuon invariant mass regions; (ii) the constrained mass insertion (\delta^{u}_{LL})_{23} could have significant contribution to dA_{FB}(B-> K^{*}\mu^+\mu^-)/ds, and such effects are favored by thr recent results of the Belle, CDF, and LHCb experiments.Comment: 20 pages, 9 figures, published versio

    Hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant effects of iridoid glycosides extracted from: Corni fructus: Possible involvement of the PI3K-Akt/PKB signaling pathway

    Iridoid glycosides (CIG) are the major component of Corni fructus. In this work, we researched the antioxidative, hypoglycemic and lowering blood lipids effects of CIG on diabetic mice induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) and streptozotocin (STZ). Furthermore, to investigate the molecular mechanism of action, the phosphorylation and protein expression of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and its downstream proteins, such as insulin receptor (INSR), protein kinase B (Akt/PKB) and glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) have been detected. The results showed that CIG significantly improved oral glucose tolerance in diabetic mice. Biochemical indices also revealed that CIG had a positive effect on lipid metabolism and oxidative stress. In addition, CIG can significantly enhance the expression level of the PI3K-Akt/PKB pathway related proteins in skeletal muscle, which is the key pathway of insulin metabolism. These findings show that CIG can improve the hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia of HFD-STZ-induced diabetic mice through the PI3K-Akt/PKB signaling pathway, and CIG might be a potential medicine or functional food for type 2 diabetes mellitus remedies. © 2018 The Royal Society of Chemistry
